@COP29_AZ: A Stand for Solidarity
Young youth and indegenous people opened COP29 with a powerful message that echoes across the globe: people, peace, and justice are what truly matter. As activists, they gathered not just for climate action but to stand against the horrors of war and genocide. their presence at COP29 was a stark reminder to every decision-maker: human lives are non-negotiable. In the midst of climate negotiations, it is crucial that leaders remember the people must always come before profit.
The world is undeniably in the grip of a climate crisis, but we must also acknowledge the additional layers of devastation caused by conflict and violence. The suffering faced by individuals and families in war-torn regions is a burden no one should bear. Every person has the right to live in peace, with dignity, and to have access to life’s basic necessities: a safe home, clean water, food security, and a livable planet. At this critical summit, we are here to hold leaders accountable for these fundamental rights.
At #COP29, we must understand that climate justice and peace are deeply intertwined. Without addressing the injustices faced by communities affected by conflict, we cannot hope to build a sustainable future. Our message is clear and urgent: prioritize humanity over money, life over profit.
